Her hands are locked in his hair and his are pulling her top over her head. She lets go of him for only a moment, just enough time to get the shirt off before she latches back to him—her lifeline, or, as Stefan would say, were he to know, the closest she’ll come to her humanity. The shirt falls to the floor and is forgotten as they move toward the bedroom.

“Caroline,” he whispers, and she watches his eyes glow with need.

She smiles demurely at him and leans forward to kiss him but then unexpectedly turns around. She doesn’t speak, but when she turns her head, her eyes speak for her. “Follow me.”

And when he finds her, she’s sitting on his bed, her back to him.

He reaches his hand to her back and touches it, his fingers lightly tracing a small scar he didn’t know she had.

“What is this?” he asks in awe, as if he didn’t expect her to have a single flaw on her body.

She turns her head to look, and sees part of one of the remaining bites from her human days with Damon. “I wasn’t always a vampire, Tyler,” she reminds him. “I used to break just like everyone else.”

Tyler just shakes his head. “No,” he says, pushing her down onto the mattress. “You were always perfect to me.” And as he proceeds to touch her, he whispers words in between kisses. “Flawless, perfect, beautiful, gorgeous, sexy, sweet Caroline.”

Summary:  In the coming months, Tyler and Caroline deal with Tyler's transformations.
A/N:  For a Vampire Diaries Comment Ficathon, prompt by all_you_wanted. Originally posted HERE.

As the months go by, the transformations become easier. It doesn’t seem this way at first, but by the end of the sixth transformation—half a year of the curse—Tyler feels the difference. He doesn’t, however, credit it to himself and his ability to withstand the transformation any better than that first full moon six months ago. It’s Caroline. It’s her strength, perseverance, and sheer stubbornness to stay with him every time.

It’s how she talks to him during the set up. How she holds him close as they both feel the transformation coming on. How—even thought it angers him afterward, when his head is clear and he realizes the danger—she stays with him until the last possible second before locking the gates and closing the door. And he hears her crying outside the door, hears her apologizing each time for not staying with him.

He wouldn’t want her to stay, though, and he always tells her this. “I don’t want to hurt you, Caroline,” he’ll say the next day, when both their heads are clear enough to have a real talk.

But she insists that he doesn’t have a choice. “I’m not letting you do it alone,” she tells him, “I’ll never let you do it alone.”

Afterward, when the full moon no longer controls him, Caroline rushes back in, unlocks the chains, and is by his side faster than he can follow. And she lies down on the cold stone floor in front of him, and he immediately pulls her to him, wrapping his arms around her and breathing heavily.

He no longer cries, no longer needs to—and, as she says, she does enough of it for the both of them—but he cannot help holding her a lot tighter than he should, were she still human. And he whispers half-formed sentences about her never leaving and how he could not do this without her and how he needs her. And bruises form on her shoulders, arms, waist, and wherever else his hands lock onto her body, but she tells him it doesn’t matter. She always heals in the end

And then things go back to how they were, or at least, they both pretend they do. But each time they meet each others eyes, or each time they hear the others voice, they know that things cannot go back to how they were.

The effects aren’t physical, and no one knows it but them, but they’ve both imprinted themselves onto the others heart.

Title:  Comfort

Rating:  PG
Word Count:  300
Spoilers: takes place during 2.05
Summary:  After Elena leaves Caroline sleeping at the Boarding House, Damon watches her sleep.
A/N:  For a Vampire Diaries Comment Ficathon, prompt by becksreid72. Originally posted HERE.

There’s no reason for them to be here, and yet every reason for them to be here. She needs someone to appreciate all that her mother never will and he needs someone to be all that Elena never wants to be and all that Katherine never was. So it’s really only natural that they’d find each other. Need each other.

He watches her sleep on his couch for a while, sipping a glass of blood every few minuets.

He watches her breathe, her chest heaving erratically, her body still trying to recover from her tears. He listens to her little sighs and whimpers, and he knows she’s having nightmares. He even reaches out once, when she lets out a piercing cry, but retracts his hand before it touches her.

When she wakes an hour and a half later, she’s crying again, and he’s by her side on the couch. Was he there the whole time, or did he just appear? She clings to him because he’s there, because he’s not afraid of her, because he made her. She doesn’t really know.

She doesn’t know how long she cries against his chest before he pulls her far enough away from him and kisses her forehead gently, very gently. And she can’t say how long she stares at him before she kisses his lips. Time doesn’t seem to matter. They just kiss, drawing comfort from each other during a time when they’re both a little more vulnerable then they wish to show the world.

Eventually, they stop, and she rests her head against his chest and closes her eyes. And he lets her because she’s there, because she’s not afraid of him, because he made her. He doesn’t know. He just runs his fingers through her hair until he, too, falls asleep.

Title:  Grasping at Normality
Fandom:  The Vampire Diaries
Pairing/Characters:  Elijah/Elena
Rating:  PG
Word Count:  320
Spoilers: little hints of 2.11
Summary:  Elijah's way of checking on Elena.
A/N:  For a Vampire Diaries Comment Ficathon, prompt by[info]littledivinity. Originally posted HERE.

He sees her more often that he doesn’t. Whether it’s in his mind, through the warlock, or in person, she’s usually on his mind. The normality with which she lives, despite the constant supernatural interference, intrigues him. And he finds himself checking in on her more often that strictly necessary.

He uses her aunt’s invitation to his advantage constantly, and there are many nights she gets back from seeing Stefan to find him in her bedroom, sitting underneath her window, unseen by anyone outside—not that he’s afraid of her Salvatore protectors, but he’d rather not deal with them if he can help it.

By unspoken agreement, she doesn’t speak of his visits to aforementioned protectors. For some reason, she trusts him in his deal to keep her out of danger, as that’s what he wants at the moment. So she figures he’s not there to do anything harmful.

Sometimes he asks her questions. Usually he only asks about the mundane—about school, or her friends, or her family—but sometimes about Stefan or Damon. Sometimes he just sits there and watches her do homework or write in her journal, which he promised one night that he’d never read. Sometimes, the roles reverse, and she asks questions of him—of vampires and the hierarchy, his past, what he knows of Stefan or Damon or even Katerina. And sometimes she just lies on her bed and stares at him.

Somewhere along the line, he finds himself wavering in his original plan to use her for his intended purpose, and cares little for his deal with her. He just likes sitting there, underneath her window, experiencing a little taste of normality with her—what life could be like if she wasn’t so attached to her Salvatore protectors.

But he vows, one night, as she sleeps, that one day those Salvatores will fade in importance, and he’ll still be here, watching her sleep.
